Oct. 14th, 2019 10:33 pmWow, last week was ... a week. Usually Hoosband and my busy schedules can tolerate one or two anomalies in a week. Last week, we had 5 anomalies:
- Monday night, Hoosband had a company overnight retreat on the same evening as I had a school community dinner, so I left work at 4:30, picked up Rutabaga, drove home, then hopped on a train back up to school, where I listened to the talk at the dinner, then tried to lead a parent discussion, then ran back to the train.
- Wednesday I had the day off, so I was able to do some errands like shopping in daylight hours! I bought some yarn and started on a yellow cat hat for Rutabaga, and then wrote a bunch of checks, and then after Rutabaga fell asleep we had to go get a second car (borrowing from parents), and then pick up Hoosband's cousin from the airport, so it ended up being a late night (1am) for everyone.
- Thursday morning we delivered Rutabaga to preschool, and then I had to drop off our normal car (I scraped up the side door really bad about 3 weeks ago.) Then Hoosband used the car to deliver Cousin to a convention an hour away (3 hours by public transit). I took the train home and spent the evening with Rutabaga (even though it was technically my night to do comics.)
- Friday morning I headed out to drop off Rutabaga, only to discover that Hoosband had the only key to the backup car, so there was some crazy last minute shenanigans to make sure that I got to school on time (took the train again). Friday night, I had another chaperone duty (9th grade movie night, which actually wasn't too bad -- watched Spiderman Far From Home), so I didn't get home by train until 10pm.
Like, of the five weekdays, only Tuesday was normal. It was... a Week. I seriously don't remember what happened on Tuesday, at all.
Frankly, I'm amazed I managed to make it through the school days.
Hoosband was a total sweetie, though, and bought me a lot of time to vegetate on Sunday, so even though the lesson plan this morning was a bit of a scramble and I need to start writing narratives soon, I feel ready to tackle stuff again.
