Jun. 21st, 2019 03:56 pmToday while walking I thought about my cousin, and how she's trapped in grad school. Specifically, she came to the US on a student visa to get a Master's. After that, she wasn't able to get a work visa (because of the H1B lottery system), so she went to law school. After passing the bar, she still wasn't able to get a job (because sponsoring someone for the H1B visa is a hassle), so now she's going to get a doctorate. At this point, she's lived in the US for over 10 years, and doesn't really want to go back to living in China. You know what would be nice? If she could be allowed to work for this country, instead of going back to school.
And who's paying for all this schooling? It's her mom in China, using her retirement funds.
