Today while walking I thought about my cousin, and how she's trapped in grad school. Specifically, she came to the US on a student visa to get a Master's. After that, she wasn't able to get a work visa (because of the H1B lottery system), so she went to law school. After passing the bar, she still wasn't able to get a job (because sponsoring someone for the H1B visa is a hassle), so now she's going to get a doctorate. At this point, she's lived in the US for over 10 years, and doesn't really want to go back to living in China. You know what would be nice? If she could be allowed to work for this country, instead of going back to school.

And who's paying for all this schooling? It's her mom in China, using her retirement funds.

School ended last week around this time, and since then, I've had a pretty productive week!
- Reorganized the dining room and the grown-up room so that both are actual useable spaces now. Took down the crib and am currently trying to give it away on craig's list. Sorted all of Rutabaga's clothes and gave away the 2T-and-under
- Went to a Chinese School meeting, decided some stuff that I have yet to do.
- Went to the DMV and got my RealID, and went to the Social Security office and got a replacement Social Security card
- Took lots of naps and read lots of fanfiction
- Finished off the last RBB arts and started inking some Rutabaga comic backlog
- I have 2 of the bigger Rutabaga comics scripted, and ideas for a bunch of smaller ones.

It's kinda nice, to not spend the summer trying to mod a bang, make 2 anthologies and also have a surgery. I'm a little sad that I've had to step down from the modding stuff and am now more disconnected from fandom, but also: work and relationship needs come first.
