Mar. 24th, 2021 11:51 amMiss Rutabaga is turning 5 today!! Holy cow how did that happen?
Last Thursday and Friday we heard back from the various schools that we applied to, and it's 3 for 3 waitlist. The school that I work at waitlisted her and then told me yesterday that basically it was out of classroom groupwork concerns, which on the one hand, I'm like "yeah, Miss Rutabaga has focus issues" but on the other hand I'm like "(a) it's COVID and (b) isn't the whole point of the school to support these issues?" And the bilingual school didn't offer any explanation (they've really not been good with communication), and we're apparently #104 on the lottery waitlist for the local project-based school, which means it's probably going to be the local elementary school. It has its own plusses (local playdates! not a wealth bubble or a concentrated-cultivation bubble!) as well as minuses (less interesting curriculum, more prescriptive expectations).
I mean, at the end of the day, she's going to be fine, and it's elementary school, not ::gestures vaguely:: (although I have Opinions about the education gap)
Anyway, small to-do list for today:
( todo )
