news should read this post. I had gotten an LJ when there weren't invite codes. And although invite codes were sometimes a nuisance, it was a very logical outcome of crazy spammers and server load. But after clustering, memcaching, and other good stuff, they're removing invite codes! Like, tomorrow! Of course, they're so nice about all that, and dealing with all the stuff that will come up like spammers/trolls, name grabs, exchanging paid time for invite-codes, etc. It makes me happy that there's brave innovative people out there who are willing to stick to their original vision. :D
