yesterday was busy, but fun. Got dragged by Joanne to Marxist meeting. They were surprisingly observant and cool, talking about social classes, etc... until they started the propaganda and trying to convert ppl. -.-;; And then went to talk about Latin America. I love having a pretext to go to these things. ("I'm collecting info for GW! hee") And then I carved a pumpkin! A small one, but there were a bunch of free ones in Pierce last night... So it was 10pm when I actually sat down to read my 50 pgs of marx. I stopped at 1:30 b/c eyes couldn't focus anymore. Eyes = pain.

Oh, and walked around w/ Joanne yesterday after math class, taking random pictures. Hah! we get sun here, too! Anyway, they should be the top ones here: http://home.uchicago.edu/~sushux/Chicago/?M=D There's even a couple of wacky pictures of me, mostly taken by Joanne. And a few pics of Joanne, as well.

Prospie night. Our prospie's from Upstate NY, and is currently cavorting down the Mag Mile of Chicago. I turned on my comp w/ intention to work on essay, and instead have been hanging about online. Little kids came around to trick or treat tonight. Gave them lots of candy. Save M&Ms for myself and roomie, however.

Hmm... appears as though I didn't give review of Thin Red Line, which I watched on Sunday. Hmm... it was trying to deep and symbolic in an annoying "hey, lookatme! I'm deep and symbolic!" sort of way, and it spread itself too thin... trying to give overreaching messages about war does not work when it's just Guadacanal. Lots of random unrecognizable characters, ppl who get 2 min scenes and then disappear forever, and most of the time, you have no idea what's going on. The Japanese actually speak Japanese, which is nice, and overall, the battle and carnage are strangely muted. (I think part of the whole deep symbolism thing). I dunno. Just really confusing.
