Sep. 4th, 2014 03:37 pmMan, figuring out printing stuff is hard! I got the cheap Lulu print version in the mail yesterday (the one priced at $7), and it is unusable. I'd figured just as much, since it was printed on unbonded 20# paper, so yeah -- basically it looks like wrinkly newsprint. But an 80-page full color comic printed on 28# laser is priced at $18-20, which is Way Too Much. I found one sketchy site that can do it for $10, but the minimum order is 6 at $20 each (it doesn't drop to $10 unless I order 40 copies), and I *definitely* want a test print first.
So I find myself going back to Ka-Blam. I can do it in 2 booklets -- a 40-page one collecting the first 2 chapters, and a 32-page one collecting the 3rd one. Each one will be about $4, which comes out to be $8 total...
But in other news, I'm now much less scared of the slightly-varying page sizes because I'm learning how to use InDesign! Need an extra 1/4" trim? No problem! I just have to tweak 2 numbers and re-export! And having Master Pages that I can just place images into? Soooo great.
(Although I don't quite get why everything is in picas. :-/)
