Jeremy came to visit today! Yay! We went to the ramen-ya on Castro and I had a big bowl of noodles *and* negitoro rice. Then we came back and played with Jeremy's Wii. I got to create a Mii and take random survey questions! Yay!

But then my tummy started to hurt. It's been doing that this week...

So I went onto the internet and, well, I think I might have ulcers? I'm not one for self-diagnosis, but...

There are several factors that increase a person's risk of getting a peptic ulcer:

  • infection with bacteria called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) -this is almost always present in people with ulcers, although it's alsofound in the stomachs of many people without ulcers or indigestionsymptoms

  • regularly taking certain medicines, particularly aspirin and othernon-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen and diclofenac

  • smoking

  • drinking alcohol in excess

Occasionally, a gastric ulcer may develop within a cancer in the lining of the stomach.

Symptoms of a peptic ulcer

Some people with peptic ulcers have no symptoms. However, many people have abdominal pain, usually just below the chestbone.

A gastric ulcer typically causes a sharp pain in the stomach soon after eating, whereas the pain of a duodenal ulcer is typically relieved by eating, or by drinking milk. Other symptoms may include:

  • belching

  • general discomfort in the stomach

  • loss of appetite or, rarely, increased appetite

  • nausea

  • vomiting (was about to tonight)

  • loss of weight

I think it might be the gastric one?? I dunno. Time to go to the doctors. (although now, after 1/2 hour on the bed, I feel better)

So went to see the doctor today. The usual doctor wasn't there, so got this really greasy-looking creepy old man. wtf, man? He said I might have gallstones. Um... gallstones = severe pain on right side. I told you I don't have sharp pain, just ickiness.. Dad concurrs in the ulcer-ness
