it's like the boxers!
Oct. 29th, 2006 12:06 amSo today at Target we were looking for king sheets. They're unbelievably hard to find in California. Anyways, there were all these "King Duvets", and we were like, "what's duvet?" So we'd scrutinize the generic 2x3" picture of a bed on the package and point to random things, but really hoping that duvet is another word for "fitted sheet." But in the end we decided to put the package back and investigate on the internet, where one can look up all sorts of information without being embarrassed. Well, it turns out duvet means comforter, so those packages were probably comforter cases.
Wow! We didn't know people can buy comforter cases in America! And here we were, schlepping them over from China for the last 16 years... (Well, the fabric store didn't sell fabric wide enough for comforters.) This is like when my dad discovered in '94 that the boxers purchased in America were exactly like the ones that he had delivered over from China because my grandmother had always sewed boxers according to a pair that my grandfather brought back from Virginia in the 50s. Go figure.
