Life is strange sometimes...  I know I should get up early (8) tomorrow, and yet I find myself here, online, checking email and LJ. ...  Lazy day, did some knitting after dinner.

Update: Was mildly amused by the "I'm republican but ABB!" ads at Moveon.org, both in what they're saying, what was chosen, and what the issues/perceived issues are. (Also the topic of the one that "won") This sounds like a cool book,

Olympic opening ceremony was pretty.  Was a little wtf? about the Eros thing, and the Glowing Womb and the matyroshka (sp?) sculpture, but I thoroughly enjoyed the drumming, the fire on water effect, the pageant of Greekish artses, especially the cute cute outfits!    I totally spazzed with the "animated' friezes, and the lovely gothic art.  :DD  And I kept thinking how this poor performer made it all the way to the Olympics to be the Centaur's ass.  (and hind legs).    Also was a little wtf? about US coming before China, but China showed up eventually, and then we stopped watching.  There was that poor guy from some country that was all by his lonesome... ::sniff::  So yeah, I guess I wasn't there for the final torch thing, but much like for what I saw.

Man, I'm so conflicted about which movie to see this weekend...  Spangenburg's showing Spring Summer Fall Winter... and Spring, which is like artsy-monk-floating-temple goodness.    Meanwhile, Aquarius is showing The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi, which sounds pretty cool, and daddy has expressed interest in seeing bad-ass Tom Cruise in Collateral (lesson learned from not taking daddy to Control Room:  "huh"  and "oh" = interested.)  I'm thinking of seeing Collateral w/ Daddy tomorrow afternoon, and then Monk Movie on Sunday.  (Unlike Aquarius, things don't last forever at Spangenburg.  This will also put more space between my last samurai movie (Twilight Samurai))    Hee... the monk is so cute!

Oh, tonight, I tried some double-knitting while watching the Olympics.  It was kinda... eh.  I mean, I definitely see advantages for when you're using only one color, or if you're doing one of those mirror color things, but if you're just doing one color on each side, it seems to me you spend a lot of time yarn-overing and slipping.  I'd be tempted to just use two sets of needles.  But see, now I'm confused, b/c this seems to be saying I don't need to do all the slipping, and I should just knit/purl away, which would be quite cool.  (And why do I love making hats so much?  It's COLD in Chicago  (okay, fine, also because I can throw in random cool stuff and because I can knit on my comfy #9's and not feel guilty)

Uh... okay, I just watched the Alexander trailer again.  ::sigh:::  Why does Colin Farrell do this to himself?  a) he looks like a sack of cotton when riding, b) he makes a silly blond, c) his one "pre-battle inspiration line" included in the trailer *sucked*... just about as much as Viggo's did in LotR.... they just don't have the shouty/inspiry voice thing goin, yo....    Let's see if Baz can make Leo do better  (speaking of which, he has aged decently since Titanic...)    Okay, that was pathetic... when I wrote Leo, I was thinking West Wing...

Oh boy, yet another royalty/president's child who wants to be "just like everyone else" and finds love in a "commoner". ::rolls eyes::

Add: Whoa... There's gonna be a Phantom of the Opera movie! cools. (can you tell I'm watching trailers on apple.com?)
