Jul. 8th, 2004 01:10 amAll right. Turns out the best way to not wait for internet is to stay up late. Go me! So I've finally started reading some of the friends entries. (mostly going by people, saving the heavy posters for last. Apologies if I can't get to you while in Denmark). Today was generally laid back. I live down the street from a Maxim bar and a sex toy shop, which is interesting. Visited the Museum of Erotica today, which was quite eh, except learning that Rousseau was a masochist and wanted to be spanked. Christiansborg Palace has beautiful tapestries, including a very modern one in the main banquet hall. Too bad no photos were allowed. :(. There were also some really watercolor-looking ones. <3
One of the things I løve about this place is the integration of technology into old designs and buildings. For example, the train station has a neon clock: it's digitally "refreshed"/adjusted every minute. The bronze entrance door to the Thorvaldsen's museum is automated. Cozy and clean bathrooms are tucked behind genuine palace doors.
Most people speak English, which is also pretty cool. Tomorrow we're going to Rosenburg Castle, the National Museum, and Christianhavn, the hippie-squatter town. I'm finally starting to get used to the punctuation on this sort of keyboard, although it's still quite crazy. I guess this is what happens when your language has more letters and weird stuff. :)
I've also been attempting to take 'artsy' photos. Failing, surely, but still having fun. Denmark is so laid back. Let's see, what else.... waay too many McDonald's, a lot of clothes-shopping, but I don't know how to shop, so that's shot... There's an H&M like every 2-3 blocks. My diet has been too meat-heavy, and so I've been suffering the consequences (mouth sores, if you care to know), so I'm making an effort to eat more fruit. (The fruit here is very yummy). Anyways, will update more when there's more to update. Most of my France portion has been written in my sketchbook (with some helpful sketches and some randomness during the train ride), so I might one day transcribe it all onto LJ, but probably not, and you're just stuck not knowing or reading my bad handwriting. ::shrug::
