Wow! Thanks to everyone who replied to my previous rant about "uniforms"! I got various cool answers such as "we are pleased by symmetry," "it conveys power," "it means we're special but at the same time, belong to a group," "it's more about elegance and sense of detachment." Yay! I agree with everyone, and it's so cool how people tackle concepts from such different directions. (concrete examples, psych class, previous responses...)
And now, Alex (UChicago Alex)'s comment got me to thinking about "dressing up". But I won't bore you with another rant here about the mental battle between me and dresses.

I love my "job". Hee. Sure, I don't really do a lot of it, mostly because the multimedia lab with the scanner is open only till 4:30pm, and my class usually gets out at around 3pm. (Right now, it's digitizing cool slides) But I love how flexible and relaxing it is. I get to look at nifty slides of of Chinese history, and then I get to play with the level and hue and equalizer and stuff in Photoshop to make it look prettier. Sure, I'm not learning much, but as I said, it's relaxing. And more productive than surfing online for that period of time. And unlike book-shelving, I'm not on my feet for 4 hours, trying to be taller (most often by standing on the shelves), and pushing large heavy carts around, squeaky-sqeaky-squeak. So far I'm clocking about 5-10 hours a week, haven't gotten any actual money yet, but it's coming, I hope!

I'm worried about the fact that I relish mindless drudgery so much.

Anything new in my life? Oh, roomie wants to nominate me for weenie of the week next week (by saying that I was drunk. should be entertaining). I haven't accomplished anything today.

Well, except for watching Daredevil clips. "I think I can't have children anymore. It just cuts off the circulation... But that's okay, because I'm open to adoption." ::snicker:: ^^;; (the guilty pleasure of life) It looks like a fun movie. And considering that I'm quite over my budget right now, I think it's my activity of the quarter. Also heard a lot of subplot and cool stuff was cut to make it "PG-13". Blah. Ratings are stupid. As I've said before, there should be scaled ratings by category, and not by age. Like 1-10 scale for "Violence", "Sex", "Language", and whatnot.
