this is sad. Of the 5 emails that entered my mailbox today, 4 were junk, two of which are porn. yuck.
Anyway, got up at 10 today, ate oatmeal while finishing up Training Day. The oatmeal was tolerable, and the movie had a lame ending. I guess the concept was good, and the two actors are good, but the overall movie was just kinda weird. The ending had a twist that I didn't like, and it didn't feel like a proper finish. No statement was made.
Then helped dad with Chinese School stuff. After dinner, watched RK OAV II (2). It was... okay. Well, the first half w/ flashbacks/Jinchuu, etc, was good. And the Yahiko/Kenji thing was good, but the whole Kenshin/Kaoru illness thing is bad. They messed up Kaoru's personality! She wouldn't sit around and wait! She's follow him around! Geez! The Chinese subbing was pretty good. The subber obviously haven't read Kenshin before, as s/he translated "mitsurugi" as "secret art" and ignored "Jinchuu" altogether, but I think the rest makes sense. And the Seisou Hen first ep is much more intelligent with the Chinese subs! They actually make sense! okay, yeah. If anyone wants Chinese-subbed Seisou Hen OAV, ask me. ^^;;;

Seisou Hen, or the "Passing of Time" arc, is set 15 years after Kenji is born. Basically, Kenshin still feels guilty, and even though he can no longer relieve suffering of the people, he wants to share it, and so Kaoru promises to always wait for him with a smile. Most recently he was called away to Mainland China to offer his war experiences/knowledge. All the soldiers have returned but Kenshin hasn't...
The first ep opens with Kenshin falling into water from a storm-battled ship. Then it cuts to Kaoru waiting at the docks, and then falling ill. mini-scenes of grown up Yahiko (age 25?), Tsubame, and a Kenji who is learning HMR from Hiko (58 and still going strong! some white hairs though.) Kaoru has fever-induced memories of meeting Kenshin and of Jine, the Kyoto arc, then the kiss scene and getting kidnapped by Enishi. (all from Kaoru's POV).
The second ep starts with Kaoru waking up on Enishi's island. They talk, etc. Kenshin/Enishi fight. Enishi breaks down. Visit Tomoe's grave. End fevered memories. Kaoru wakes up and explains to Yahiko Kenshin's "share the suffering" philosophy, and that call she can do is to wait for him with a smile and their son, but now that Kenji has run away, she only has her smile left. Yahiko flashbacks to Kenshin passing him the sakaba, and therefore decides to bring Kenji back. Megumi returns from Aizu to take care of Kaoru. Talks about Kaoru sharing Kenshin's disease, etc. On mainland, Sano (age 34 and on his mongolian horse) finds Kenshin only to find him near death and having forgotten everyone. Yahiko-Kenji fight. Sano sends Kenshin home. Kenshin and Kaoru meet, Kenshin dies, his scar finally erased. Kenji passes by later with gf Chizuru.
Everyone does age, which is pretty cool, but their clothes are the same as the one in the Kaden extra story. Kenji is really cute, and has a rounder, Kaoru-like face. Yahiko is very hot. Tsubame's a lucky gal. Just a very well done animated fanfic. It can be justified, but not very happy.
Re:
But otherwise that's depressing... ;.; Poor Kenshin and Kaoru.
