Woo! Back from Hang Zhou. 2 day trip. Xi Hu deserves its name as China's most beautiful lake.... of course, it's really a combination of the undulating mountains hiding temples and pagodas, the morning mist and the calm view from the lake that really sets it apart. Visited Ling Ying Temple, first built 1600 years ago, and hosted 3000 monks at its height Wow. And then visited the tomb of Yue Fei, famous cultural hero.
Finally finished my book on "Common Chinese Cultural Knowledge" Reads like an encyclopedia, about 50 pages, but very instructive.
Been drawing in China-bought A4 sketchpad. Horrible paper. Doesn't bear erasing at all, and does weird stuff with ink. Also got watercolors. Might as well start learning. The coloring method/order is so different from digital stuff!
Oh, forgot to mention last time I wrote in LJ that I got tickets to the Les Mis Broadway show at the Shanghai theatre. 300 yuan apiece for 2nd story seats, which is around $35. Yay! Gonna go on Monday.
