New Year's Resolutions

starting this a bit earlier this year, but I'm really tired today (last night I had a really bad case of the Mysterious Stomache/Back Pains), and then today I was out socializing all morning and then didn't eat well. Generally not a good day, and I'm a little worried that the pains will come back tonight. :(

Anyway, rating my resolutions from last year:

>>> Write 2 fics. If I could do 1 over winter break, 2 for the whole year seems possible?!
I wrote 3! I was hoping to get the 4th one finished today, but I'm so tired, alas. :( (and tomorrow I need to start grading, so...) Regardless, A.

>>> Lose 7 lbs. That's a reasonable number, right? It's less than 10!
I did! I do feel healthier (except for the Mystery Pain), and I've gotten a few periods, too. Huzzah! A.

>>> Work the anti-hustle, claw back some time. If I want to have things like relaxation time or creative time or time with spouse, that needs to start by having TIME. Burnout sucks. Downtime will build emotional fortitude!
Hmm, not sure if I did this or not. This school year definitely feels a bit more relaxed than last school year, but I also had some major cases of overwork and feeling really burnt out due to spending too much social energy. But I did also manage to do some creative work, so... I'd give this a B.

Average Overall: A- (not bad!!)

Okay, now time for resolutions for 2024

1. Lose 7 lbs. Hey, it worked for last year! This time it'll probably be harder because I need to actually start exercising, just a bit, but I think if I can get there, I'll actually be at a healthy weight where I can have mild periods and feel less fatigued

2. Figure out what's up with this Mystery Pain. Cause it suxxxxxxxxxx. My mom said that her dad had similar Mystery Pain that the doctors couldn't figure out when he was in his 40s, and it lasted 2 years before suddenly stopping. I hope it doesn't last 2 years!

3. Do more activities together as a couple and as a family. One of the things that happened with the birth of Miss Rutabaga is that we stopped doing activities as a couple, and so nowadays we're often struggling to align and find things to do together again. And now that the child is older, we should start doing more things as a family!

4. write 2 fics. Look, a 4th resolution! I wanted to put something on here that I can probably do. :)

Good luck finding out the source of the mystery pain! From observing other people's experience and my own experience with a mild but persistent abdominal pain (which finally seems to have faded, yay!) is that mystery abdominal aches can be hard to track down, alas. So if you come back to this set of resolutions next year and you haven't figured it out, maybe give yourself points for trying.
