the smell of summer
Summer is fast approaching! Last night we wrapped up the Chinese School school year with the dinner, although I've been having a pretty over-scheduled week so I still have a fair bit of lingering work. The poor kiddo only got as much time to study for the final (being sick, me traveling, events at school and at home), so she didn't do as well as she'd liked (took a look at her written final, and I think she got about 3/4s right). It also didn't help that we were so delayed that we didn't start cramming all the characters she had to write until the day of the exam. Anyway, I'm going to try to do a little review with her this week and "retake" it, just so that she feels a little better. I've signed her up for Mandarin summer camp, and maybe in the afternoon I can do a little writing review and math review with her. (Have already ordered the 2nd and 3rd grade workbooks!)
Wow, has it only been a week since Fanime?
Today:
- try to get as much lingering Chinese School work done as possible -- paystubs, writing checks, maybe even grading.
- last two 10th grade essays to grade!
- ask mom about using her backyard to host comickers
Next week (Jun 5-11):
- grade through the 9th grade stuff as much as possible. Will probably employ liberal use of coffee shop and lingering around the mall in the mornings as much as possible.
- Mon: last lesson that I gotta plan, which is day 2 of Silver Trade. Maybe also course survey?
- Tues: RenFayre, so basically I'm getting nothing done
- Wed and Thurs: mostly just hangouts in class, try to get as much grading done as possible
- Fri: all the end-of-year schmatz, will probably get nothing done. (consider having Spouse do the 1st grade EOY party so that I have more time to wrap up?)
- Sat: grade 4 essays
- Sun: graduation (1-5pm) (grade 4 essays)
Next next week (Jun 12-18): faculty work week, kiddo starts summer camp so that's 9am-4pm-ish.
- Mon: finish grading, start evals
- Tues: meetings galore
- Wed: meeting, try to finish evals
- Thurs: final wrap-up of evals, meetings
- Fri: pack up, lunch thing, Quest work
Next next next week (Jun 19-25): This will be the week where I get all of my household goals done. Some vague plans:
- revamp kiddo's room (get rid of old toys and stuffies, make storage more useful, easier room to play in and easier room to clean up. Consider making a nice space to curl up and read? (get rid of the ikea futon? Or maybe actually setting it up?
- fix the upstairs bathroom light (replace some tube lights)
- clear out more ivy in front
- put away cosplay stuff, tidy up various downstairs bags of miscellany
- maybe the stroller's going away??? (but the library is a bit far for scooting...)
And then... summer!!!
