FINALLY I am out of the Sick Hell of the last 2 weeks. :( Basically I got back from Point Reyes on Friday the 21st and then proceeded to be horribly sick until the 4th. I took Monday and Tuesday off from work, Wednesday I tried to teach via zoom, which is worse than teaching during the pandemic bc the kids weren't able to all be on Zoom, then the following 5 work days (Thurs-Wed) I dragged myself to campus to teach, but only just barely. I had this horrible death cough that would come in waves, and I could only eat soft things like mochi, spinach, and bananas, which meant I was mostly hiding in my car and trying to nap when I wasn't teaching my classes. Sleep was extremely fitful because of all the coughing fits, and I basically had zero energy. Ugh, misery all around. But! On Thursday afternoon I ... suddenly felt better?! Like, going from maybe 40% energy to about 80% energy. And on Friday I was most of the way better, and no longer felt like I was about to accidentally infect someone if I coughed too much. There's still a lingering cough, but not much. WHEW! There's nothing like being sick to remind me of how nice having energy is. :) (And just in time! Friday night, Miss Rutabaga had an overnight at her school, so I got to go out on a nice dinner date with Spouse, and we had yummy Ethiopian food and then went to buy stuff for our cosplay)

Other things are looking up, as well!

- After 2+ years of effort, we finally have an EV charger installed in the carport! Now I no longer have to drive to various parking lots and spend an hour waiting for my car to charge! Instead, I plug my car in when I get home, and in the morning, it's fully charged! We'll still have to check the cost of the charging, but it's a big logistics load off my mind, because now I'm not constantly trying to figure out when/where I need to next charge. Huzzah! (I'm also really glad that I got the Bolt when I did, because I escaped all the battery problems, but made it before they canceled the Bolt altogether, while it's still reasonably priced.)

- There's only 5 weeks left in school!!! 2 weeks of classes, 1 week of trips, then 2 weeks of classes. That's ... not a lot! Still a lot of work to do before then (grading, evals, TRIPS), but still, I can taste a hint of summer!

- Summer should be pretty good -- I signed kiddo up for extended care, so I can pick her up as late as 6pm, though I'm thinking I'll probably pick her up around 4pm. But hopefully I can figure out some ways to best maximize my time in the summer so that I don't fritter it away like I did last summer. We also just sat down to plan our August northeast trip, so I can move forward with that.

- We're going to Fanime as a family this year! It's pretty exciting -- I think it's the first time since Miss Rutabaga was only 2 months old, so it's been 7 years! We're planning on cosplaying characters from Zelda -- Spouse will be Kass, since he plays the accordion. Miss Rutabaga will be a Korok, and I will be Beedle. Since I'm going on a week-long DC trip in 2 weeks, I basically will be making the costume in the next 2 weeks. :0 Should be fun! Still can't decide whether I want a normal-sized backpack or maybe try to make a bigger one. I'll get all the other costume pieces together first, and then see how much time I have left.

Tomorrow morning: gotta clean up before playdate!
- vacuum lego room
- tidy up Rutabaga's bedroom
- tidy up living room couches
- downstairs bedroom

Tomorrow afternoon:
- grade 10th grade essays
- buy fabric?!!

Next week: grade 9th grade Mongol essays
