computer fixed!

So... my primary computer is a 2015 Macbook, and I love it lots -- unlike the newer ones, it doesn't have the obnoxious touchbar. It's extremely hardy and solid, and does exactly what I need it to do.

But recently it's sometimes struggled to accept a charge, and there was a warning that I'd need to replace the battery soon. Well, either that, or buy a new laptop. (and deal with file transfers, not to mention the money outlay for that. eugh)

Anyway, it turns out that the battery itself only costs $50, a set of tools is $20, plus I found a helpful set of instructions. So I bought the supplies, and, now that it's summer and I can risk potentially breaking my computer, I actually open up my computer!

Firstly -- it is dusty as heck in there. Like, wow, just dust caked up around everything. :O I didn't know that the inside could get dusty! Anyway, it took me about an hour of finangling, but I managed to replace the battery!

Then I discovered that it was still having trouble charging, which meant it was a charging port problem. Emboldened by my success, I ordered the part for the charging port ($12), and just now replaced that, too!

So now hopefully my lappy will be good to go for another few years at least. And all for <$100! :3 I'm gonna definitely have to save the link to how to fix anything on this lappy. :D

Yay! One of the things I hate about modern electronics is the way when you find something you like, you're not guaranteed that they'll try to keep it mostly the same for even 2 years. I'm glad you could extend it.
