day 3 of summer break woooo!
I've done a fair bit of house reorganization, but still a bit more to do:
- stuff the futon into the futon bag
- put the baby stuff into the horrible corner shelf cave in the lego room
- process Miss Rutabaga's clothes for donation
- clear out the various oubliette bags around the house
- organize and donate the pile of stuff behind the dining table
- process the boxes in front of the dining table
- recycle the stuff in front of the dining table
- organize Miss Rutabaga's kindergarten work and strategically recycle
Also need to:
- schedule booster shot for Miss Rutabaga
- reserve campsite for summer camping
- schedule dentist for Miss Rutabaga
- get plane tix to Vermont
- start setting up playdates for the summer
Also, parents' car that we've been borrowing as a "second car" has now pretty much died. It's a 2003 Honda Accord, so it's really at the end of its lifespan. But now we need to think of getting a new car. Right now my top two options are the Nissan Leaf S Plus or the Honda Clarity Plug-In. We're also trying to get an EV charging station installed in our carport.
I drive about 30 miles in the morning and 55 miles in the afternoon. At school I'm able to get level 1 charging that will charge about 35 miles over the 10 hour period. Then the question is whether we manage to get an at-home charger, or would have to charge nearby at the high speed charger
If I have a Nissan Leaf: (220 mi capacity)
- Drive 30, charge 35, drive 55 = 60 miles deficit per day, which can be compensated by:
---- fastcharging every 3 days (twice a week)
---- level 1 charging at home: 45 per day = 10 miles deficit per day, which means fastcharging every 2-3 weeks
---- level 2 charging at home: no deficit
- would need to drive a different car for longer trips
If I have a Honda Clarity: (45 mi capacity + gas)
- Drive 30, charge 35, drive 55 = 60 miles on gas per day, which can be compensated by:
---- fastcharging for 15 minutes every day
---- level 1 charging at home: 45 overnight, -30 driving up, recharge up to 45, drive 55 mi = 10 miles on gas per day
- Can just drive this car for longer trips
Currently leaning towards the Leaf. (update: will go with spouse to Nissan dealer on our anniversary day (he takes that day off every year) to scope out the car)
