Miss Rutabaga is with my mom today, and I had plans to work on Chinese School stuff and maybe finally start doing some grading bc I'm probably not going to have a chance to do that next week, but instead I spent the morning making edits to my holiday exchange fic that my beta pointed out that I needed. And then I had a nice lunch with Spouse! ah, I've forgotten how great it was during COVID when I could work from home and have this every day. He is a cool guy that I enjoy talking with, and now that I'm out of the house from 7am until 6pm, we basically don't really hang out until after 10pm, at which point we're both too tired to properly converse.
(This week has been a LOT of child care, and next week, too. I need to start figuring out some sort of summer camp or classes thing for Miss Rutabaga so that I have some hours to myself this summer.)
Anyway, The Witcher Season 2 also came out last Friday, so I've read a bunch of spoilers, and know the 60% of the season that I'll be skipping once I get around to sitting down and watching the thing. Which... might be the summer, if I can get those classes for Miss Rutabaga to materialize.
I've also been enjoying Studson Studio on youtube for calmly crafting things and turning junk into cool little houses and stuff. I like how he makes it seem like something that is very doable without hundreds of dollars of fancy equipment. It's definitely made me want to get some foam and craft some stuff :)
One of the things that I should prototype is a better collapsible display case for tabling purposes -- it should be pretty doable using foam-board, but I'd have to get over my post-ECCC funk first. (The ECCC trip was where I discovered that I like at least making the cost of tabling back in sales. Like, I don't mind if I pay $400 for a table to make $400 in sales (and therefore valuing my time spent and my printing costs at zero), but apparently I do mind paying $1400 for table + hotel in order to make $400 in sales. EUGH, what do I even want.)
My mom decided to order an RV in February and not tell anyone until I got a sudden email asking for my help in picking it up. Which... yeah.
Saturday is Christmas, and Miss Rutabaga has a fair number of presents under the tree, and I've given clear enough instructions this year that my annual tribute of chocolate should be milk this time and not dark. Omicron means that we've canceled our tickets to the aquarium for next week, but hopefully we'll still get a chance to hike, etc. And then it'll be back to the grind once again!
Anyways, enough procrastinating, time for a to-do list of Chinese School tasks! Let's make it ultra-granular so that I feel like it's more doable.
- find the paystubs
- address the envelopes
- stuff the paystubs in the envelopes
- print out the chart with the payroll summary
- write the checks
- mail the envelopes
- write an email to teachers explaining pay
- look at the database downloader and see if it's a php5 upgrade issue
