Feb break
February break is coming up! Miss Rutabaga is home on Mon, but thankfully has preschool on Tues-Fri, so I have a little bit of time to do my own projects. I need to remind myself how *little* time that is, and not over-plan. She is also having late start on Tuesday and Thursday (it's a deal that we made with her -- she hates doing the worksheets at school in the mornings, so for those two days, she can stay at home and we do a different set of worksheets. Trying to get her to understand the concept of finishing a task), so those days are more like half days than full days. Maybe what I'll do is allocate those days for grading and lesson prep, which leaves Wed and Fri for non-lesson prep stuff?
I really want to draft out a comic that is a story and not a journal comic style, but I kind of need inspiration. Hopefully by clearing out a day to just focus on comic stuff that will seem more possible?
In other news, I spent last week in the throes of various lockdown-related health issues -- first I'd messed up my right hand from typing and trackpadding too much. Then I slept on my right arm wrong and got whole-arm tinglies for a day. So then I decided to sleep on my left side, but somehow that messed up my back. Which was really icing on the cake of "spending all of last year hunched over a laptop" because my upper back just rebelled. So, after a year of working remote, I finally got myself a thing to put my laptop screen higher so that I don't have to hunch over as much. Of course, having the screen elevated means that typing and trackpadding is worse, so I got an app that allows me to use my phone as a trackpad, and also got a more ergonomic keyboard. (For those wondering -- yes I have a desk that I set up last October, but no I don't use it. Honestly I've never liked working at a desk. I think it's because I like sitting cross-legged because chairs are not designed for short people like me.) Oh! I also got a new mattress so that I'm not waking up with more tension than I went to sleep with. So... yeah, now I feel like I have a whole portable workstation. Now I just have to remember to use it.
Chinese School: (Tuesday morning)
- check W2 addresses and then mail them out
- catch up on grading
Regular school:
- finish grading WWI Stories essay (10 left, so ~3 hours. Maybe Monday morning?)
- lesson planning for second half of the term
- Grade final draft of the Judeo-Christian essay (17, but I've already graded the rough drafts, so maybe also ~3 hours? Tuesday afternoon)
Comics work:
- lay out Rutabaga book 3 so that it's all wrapped up
- do some Wong Kim Ark research and see if I can get the comic drafted up
- brainstorm short ~20 page stories that I'd want to tell. Possibly to align with the anthology
Fandom stuff:
- draw 2 more pics for the fic that I claimed for the kb
- get 2 more wips out the door:
---- stop stalling on the Witcher one and post it, it's supposed to be a small tidbit dammit
---- read through the blue bucky one and decide whether it can be finished in a scene or two, or whether to post it as amnesty
- start actually writing the Sam epilogue to recently posted fic -- I know what I want to have happen, I just have to write it.
Stuff around the house:
- time to cut our losses and stop hoarding things with intent to give away / upcycle. It's just one or 2 bags of garbage, it's okay to throw things away sometimes
- tackle the curse of the dining table, which is currently the pile of mail table. Reorganize it into a usable space again (though not for dining haha)
- document and then find a better place for Lego Hyrule
