As of Sunday night, Miss Rutabaga has moved into her own room! This is an exciting development, and we are reshuffling various room items at the moment. (The room that she has moved into used to be our "adult room", full of stuff like warmachine minis, sewing supplies, electronics, comic books for shipping and conventions, etc.)
This means that our master bedroom is now our space, and therefore has a chance to be something more than "place to sleep at night and throw clothes on in the morning." Should it also be:
A) place where we store things that we need occasional but easy access to? (ex: sewing machine, crafting materials, paints for projects with Miss Rutabaga, printing station, drawing materials for Hoosband, etc)
B) place where we store our hobbies, no matter how dusty, to make it easier to resume (ex: electronics, warmachine, drawing materials for me, etc)
C) place for long term storage because we don't have other good spaces for them (ex: costumes, convention stuff, shipping materials, etc)
D) place where we hang out as a couple and draw / read comics / play games
E) place where we have a quiet individual retreat/work space while the other person watches miss Rutabaga
Right now, I'm incline to go with A and E. B (dusty hobbies) and C (long term storage) should go in the loft or elsewhere. (Currently my convention comics are in Miss Rutabaga's room, since she doesn't have that much stuff, and they're too clunky for the loft.) D (couples hangout space) should remain the living room for after Miss Rutabaga's bedtime, and when it's not her bedtime, we're not going to be having couples time anyway. That leaves A (occasional but easy access), and E (individual retreat space).
For me, an individual retreat space should have a nice comfy single person couch. (Maybe it's finally time to shell out for a single person sactional?) Hoosband still needs to think about his space.
Another thing I want to think about, is the difference between Miss Rutabaga's new bedroom and her current playroom. Playroom is downstairs, and filled with occasionally played toys and activities. We haven't actually done any playdates, so it's usually just a place to store and retrieve items to play with her and one of us. I can easily see the more useful parts of the playroom be trundled upstairs to her bedroom, and the downstairs room be transformed into a guest room / long-term storage room.

I have no ability to organize a domicile, so I'm just going to stay here and cheer. :)

The only thing to watch out for is letting any storage stuff overwhelm the bedroom. I'm still clearing out junk from the Year of Cancer that got quickly shoved into my bedroom. I know I'm a messy person so I try to keep it in mind before I start trying to store things because I know it has clutter-creep for me.
