Upward bound

Mom is headed back to China tomorrow, and my death-cough is less frequent (though when I'm in the throes of a particularly vicious bout it still feels like I'm about to cough out my entire stomach contents and half of my brain). I've scheduled an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow.

Today I did a lot of color tweaking to my Starboard, anthology comic, and I think it looks a lot better. I need to remember to do better foreground/background value contrast. There's still speech balloons that I should give a final once-over, but it's currently good enough to send off for a proof. The coming week I hope to get the entire anthology laid out, make some sort of stand-in cover, and send out for a proof copy.

I also finished assigning people for the art exchange that I'm running, which means most of the organizational work is over. All that's left is the drawing! As usual, I don't think I'll start until a week before the deadline. :D

In other art news, it feels *really good* to have Starboard out of my system! I need to chew on some Tisquantum story/dialogue stuff before moving forward on that front, and in the mean time, there's some Cap doodles I can do as brain/art filler.

My weird Patreon experiment has been pretty fun thus far -- doing a monthly postcard-sized drawing hasn't been a burden because it's giving me a chance to experiment and leave my "house style". Drawing doodles for the recipients has also been a good return of ye goode olde Ball Point Pen. (I still find myself trying to "zoom in" while drawing details, and failing miserably...). What's more exciting is that I now have some people signed up for mailing lists that are focused around Tisquantum or comics process stuff. Yay! \o/

(Which reminds me: I have a Patreon now.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyways, June should be a pretty good month, as long as I can work my way out of this death-cough.
