Blu Ray

All right, I've held out long enough -- with the Snowpiercer blu-ray coming out, and increasingly more bonus features being on blu-ray only (I really want to her the directors commentary for CA:TWS!!), I think it's time to upgrade my current beloved and super janky tv setup:

The main problem is that the tv only takes RCA composite (well, also coaxial, but... hahahaha)

So one option is to buy a blu-ray player for $80 and an hdmi-to-RCA cable for $10 and be done.
BUT, I can also get a PSP3 for about $250, and therefore get an extra gaming console (but... I don't really play games, but Jono might...)

OR, I can go whole-hog and get a new TV. I could probably fit a 32" in that spot, and it'd probably cost around $200.

And it'd bring me:

Digital image quality. (Not sure if that would be better or worse -- perhaps just different, especially since I don't care much about image quality. On the one hand, I find hi-def things to be kind of uncanny valley. On the other hand, most things are native-digital anyway.)

A glorified computer monitor. (I can co-opt the mostly-defunct minecraft server as a dedicated tv computer for streaming purposes, and Jono can play League of Legends on the tv monitor instead of the separate monitor. Then again, my current tv-watching laptop is pretty convenient -- I don't have to get up to navigate to the next episode.)

New TV hookups. (I'd have to give up my precious VHS player, and probably my old DivX/DVD player, too. Which mostly means giving up half my anime shelf. But then again, most anime is available for streaming online, and it might mean I can plug in a usb???)

As you can see, each has its pros and cons. So yeah... not sure??? Opinions???
