Drew a lot of batman
As part of my gorging on Justice League last week, I ended up drawing lots of Batman-related stuff. It's.... fanart?? Or something. Basically I decided that Batman would be much more awesome if he were female -- that the Waynes had a daughter named Brienne. So it's currently up on the potofsoup tumblr. I'll probably move it to sushusketches as a single post some time.
Tumblr is weird, because recognition comes from the number of likes/reblogs, and it's hard not to fall into that way of thinking. My usual modus operandi is to post things and then move on, and tumblr encourages me to obsess over these fake internet points known as "notes". Sigh. I personally don't actually like reblogging because of the amount of dashboard spam it creates.
On the other hand, when I do something that I'm kinda proud of (or in this case, I've developed a serious crush on Brienne... Pygmalion much?), I do want to show it off. Same thing with comics. I wish there was a good way to do that. Right now the choice seems to be
(a) post it to DW/Website and let it languish, except when I print it in dead tree form and shove it into people's hands,
(b) post it to tumblr where it is judged by the short attention span of fandom and disappears within a day
(c) cultivate internet presence by spending hours a day on twitter/tumblr/google+/fb, and then when I do create something, spamming *everyone*.
(d) ingratiate myself into vaunted "cool people" circles of people who have already achieved internet fame, and ride their coat-tails.
Or I guess I could just draw things and be happy that a bunch of my friends enjoyed it. That has always been what I've done, but it is also harder now that everyone is split between multiple platforms. :(

And of course a bunch of my old friends aren't even going to see this comment because it's on dreamwidth, not LJ.
Meh, maybe I should just switch to Renren and stay in touch with no one at all. But then I would miss your art!

Yeah. I've tried to consolidate things by following you and Chris and Isaac's tumblrs and your twitter via DW feeds, so at least I can read things at the same place. Responding is hard, though -- basically I only like responding on DW/LJ -- tumblr and twitter are too public and re-bloggy.
