Update 1 -- Itchiness: By the power of data, I don't appear to be allergic to gluten or dairy. I kept a chart of what I ate and when/where I felt itchy. Then I went through and rated on a scale of 1-5 how much gluten, dairy, and sugar I consumed. I also rated the itchiness for each day by counting up the itchiness incidents and weighting the more intense itchiness more heavily. Result: there is no correlation between gluten and itchiness, and between dairy and itchiness. What a relief! Flour is kind of yummy (when cooked with other stuff, like in dumplings, or as frying batter)
That left sugar, but that didn't seem to account for *all* of the itchiness, either. But what else is in bubble tea? Oh, hey, the tea! Tea is such a standard drink for me that I didn't even document it properly. So now I've been non-caffeine (well, okay, some chocolate) for a few days, and the itchiness has definitely lessened.
Of course, something else to consider here is:
a) Maybe it's completely internal/hormonal, and more itchiness meant my reproductive system is kicking back into gear. (My BBT didn't go up yesterday, so once again, doubt -- are my attempts to reduce itchiness messing with my attempts at fertility? Or is the low-temp part of my cycle just longer than average?)
b) It might be scabies or some other surface-contact thing? Every time I Google-Image search, I think, "no, that's not me", but then sometimes I have oddly patterned splotches, and I wonder again.
Update 2 -- School stuff: I've been named co-department chair for history, which is pretty exciting. School is also ending soon -- finals start this week. I have 2 class days left. I got a ton of grading done this weekend while waiting for badges for Fanime, but haven't done much schoolwork since then. Just woke up from a nap, though, and I'm home alone, so I expect to get quite a bit done.
Update 3 -- Family stuff: Got a call this morning from dad: My grandparent count is down to 0. My grandma was 96 and passed away in relative comfort at home with my uncle and aunt present, so it's not a sudden unexpected death. But the finality of it still hits you. I feel a bit disconnected from it, since I've only seen my grandma the few times that I was in China, but I know it's hard on my dad, so just want to be around for him. He's leaving for China on Wednesday, and mom already had a China trip planned for the Wednesday after that, so the parentals will both be gone for a month.
