Resolutions 2013
First, Last Year's Resolutions:
2012 Resolutions
1) Be more consistent in pursuing personal hobbies and skills (comics, sewing, banjo)
B. Worked on Rapunzel Comic, and sewed some fun things recently. However, decided to give up the banjo.
2) Read more books
C. I read.... 2 non-school related books?
3) Reduce material consumption (buy less crap)
C. Given that I completely forgot about this..... ::looks around at living room full of boxes:: However, I did practice restraint re: buying of clothes and new gadgets.
4) Become a better teacher
B. Definitely new teaching experiences this year, but let's see what happens with the new class I'm taking over and some of the new teaching methods I want to try.
5) Harness the power of HTML 5 (for teaching)
B-. I definitely feel more confident about HTML 5, but I'm not at the level when I can do a lot that helps teaching.
Overall grade: B-
2013 Resolutions
I think the 2 big things I want to address this year is HEALTH (both mental and physical), and STASIS (in skills, creativity, opinions, etc). The stasis one is a bit tricky, because on the one hand, I want to be able to focus on improving specific skills and no longer be the dilettante of my college years. On the other hand, I don't want to be close-minded and in a mental rut.
HEALTH
- Eat healthy and walk a lot so that I can get into a healthy BMI range
- Get regular periods and also: take the next step in the pregnancy path -- go talk to a proper Western Doctor
- Don't take on so much work there's no downtime. Monthly stress meltdowns is not the way to go.
STASIS
- Draw at least Part 1 of Squanto Comic and finish Jianghu one way or another
- Do something new and different with existing skills (sewing, comics, etc).
- Read more widely. (Not read more, since that usually doesn't happen, but surely I can replace some of my existing reading with better reading.)
