In the nick of time

So! I finished my October tasks (mostly)! Yay!

Recap:
- Made Sokka costume for bro and sent it off: robe, boot covers, boomerang pouch, necklace (3 evenings) Here's a picture:

- GRADING for 1st quarter (2 weeks). This was the unexpected thing. Oops. I've taken the past week off from grading in compensation, in order to:

- Drew a batch of Matriarchy icons (2-3 evenings). I still have about 2 evenings worth of icons (the 4 more complex ones), and probably 1-2 evenings for the poster, so I'll probably tackle that soon. I'll probably make a sketchblog post of the better ones soon. (I drew a water wheel! And taels of silver!)

- Made Okita Souji outfit (3-4 evenings). I got to use up a lot of fabric bits that I had lying around! To make this, I first looked at the costume design for Okita in Kenshin, Peacemaker Kurogane, and Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan, and I decided to go with the Hakuouki one because it looked the most interesting and traditional. Plus I was intrigued by the combination of colors. Anyway, here's me today at school, a self-photo using Photo Booth (so ghetto!)

- Finished the last pages of my 5-page practice comic! (2 evenings) I was worried that I wouldn't be able to finish in October, since I had so many other things to do, and it seemed like I was making NO PROGRESS at all. But then last night and tonight, I was like, "Hey, I don't have anything else to do, I can spend the whole evening on this!" So I did. 3 Big Bang Theory episodes and 3 Glee episodes later, I'm done! All that's left is to scan and post, which I'll do tomorrow. :D

Oh, we also had a board game party and a Halloween Party. :D I've discovered Quiche to be an awesome party food, and have figured out how to "wing it", so I'm quite happy about that, though for the next party I might go for some fried wontons.

Your brother has amazing Sokka hair. If I had known/thought of it, I would've given you the Sokka necklace I cobbled together for my bro - although who knows if the length would've been right.

Nice calligraphy on that flag banner thing! Was it painted or ...what?

Wow, your brother makes an excellent Sokka! Your Shinsengumi costume is also excellent. Seeing your sewing/crafty posts always makes me want to sew something.

Well, I did give in and start using the sewing machine to finish my tiny companion cube plush. I need to actually complete that one before I start a new project. I did promise Isaac a hoodie, though.

...It should be a duck hoodie.
