First Day of School Today
So. Tired.
I'm worried I may have over-committed myself. In addition to the two lunchtime clubs that I sponsor, I'm also helping with academic support. There's also more team meetings this year. This means that instead of average of 2 free periods per day, I'm down to about 1-ish, which is not a happy thing, because I really need that time for lesson planning, grading, and meeting with students. I'm worried about what's going to happen come spring when I also have to start working on Student Achievement Night. (Not to mention ye olde Chinese School, the time that it's going to take to integrate iPads into 10th grade, etc)
To make matters more complicated, I'm also trying the school's challenge to not drive to school this year. This means more bus time or bike time. I live about 3 miles from school, and so far these are my options:
I really want to do this, but I'm worried that my already-low energy is not up to the task. Anyway, I technically don't have to start until 9/1, but yesterday I also tried walking to the train station and then taking a bus, which took 40 min walking + 10 min bus ride each way. While I enjoyed the walk, by the end my feet were hurting due to shoe issues. Today I ended up chickening out and driving because I just didn't want to worry about first-day-of-school contingencies. Tomorrow I hope to try taking the bus both ways.

| Getting There | Getting Home | Pro/Con |
| 30 minute bike ride (up slope) | 25 minute bike ride (down slope) | Pros: Schedule flexibility, free Cons: Takes 10+ minutes of cool-down time to be moderately presentable at school. Getting in/out of bike-related gear takes 10 minutes. |
| Free Menlo shuttle to school (30 minutes) | $2 Bus to PA train station, free PA bus home. (30-45 min) | Pro: Not sweaty, can do work on bus Con: Not flexible schedule, $2/day actually costs more than driving |
