Had a Venture Brothers dream last night, which was weird because I don't really watch the show. But in it, we're with Dean Venture where he's underground crawling through the earth, and he meets a ghost skeleton form of himself that was trying to capture his shadow, so he runs away to above ground, where we hide in this tent that was lit by ghost lights. There were these malevolent spirits that were trying to get in to the tent to "get" Dean, and he was super freaked out in that Dean way. The spirits can't get into the tent because they need shadow, but we keep needing to leave the tent to get something, and that's when they come. There was this quiet little girl who came to help us, and it was implied that she was some sort of undead. The spirits end up sneaking into the tent by attaching to the shadow in her shoes, and then breaking the light in the tent. They are dark tentacle shadows. We were losing the fight, so the girl proposes a wager with the spirits: if Dean wins the game, then they leave. If he loses, then they get to keep Dean. So we go outside and Dean plays a bunch of games with them, and he keeps losing, and when he loses, he loses a bit of himself. For example, they want him to sing courage, and he couldn't, so he loses his voice, etc. Since the questions are ones that function on a different dimension, we counsel Dean to do that, too. The conversation went something like this:
Dean: "What should I do? I've already lost 2 of my fingers!"
us: "Okay, calm down."
Dean: "But they keep asking things that I don't know!"
us: "What do you usually when you don't know something?"
Dean: "I go to look it up"
us: "Okay, so next time they ask something that you don't know, go look it up."
Dean: "But there's no library here!"
us: "Just start moving towards the car. Have your whole self devoted to getting in a car, going to the library, looking up the question, and finding the answer."
Dean: "umm... okay..."
So he tries it, and it works ... he is able to escape the spirits by getting in the car and driving with determination.

Did I mention that the whole dream was animated?

And then I had a dream where I had to write a WASC report at school about what I teach and why and how we're cooperating with the English department to improve writing. ::sigh:: School dreams are pretty frustrating.
