I'm very much enjoying our current unit on Nationalism. Already I've learned a lot about the Sepoy Rebellion, the Boer War, and now studying up on the whole Serb thing. This is when I wish I could just poke Pren and be like, "yo, what's all this about?"

But, to present you with entertaining fruits of my labor:

De La Rey -- a controversial song about Boer nationalism and the Boer war. Concentration Camps! Winston Churchill! The Dutch and the English duking it out in the southern tip of Africa! Modern controversy about whether you can be proud of an Afrikaner heritage that is responsible for apartheid! Plus the song's pretty catchy.

This one has a lot of different reactions interspersed in the song.

Mangal Pandey! He's a real person who went mad and shot himself, as one narrative tells it. And really, it was the later uprising in Meerut in May that really triggered the Sepoy rebellion. But actually you just want to see the uber-nationalist and fun The Rising, which is a whole movie based off of about 2 paragraphs in the history books.

And, finally, awesome maps for Europe! Including but not limited to:
Map of languages in Europe by linguistic groups
Map of languages in Europe
and
Frequency of fair hair in Europe

That was really interesting! Are you studying this as part of a particular class?
