life, recently

22nd-27th:  Visited Jono's family.  Very sweet and hospitable people.  They have a bajillion books in their house.  Apparently something like 4000 in the main house and 2000 in the attic or something.  <3  They gave me a surprise birthday cake and I was totally surprised/confused.  Had lots of fun.  Learned new card game.  Watched Tale of Despereaux.  Attempted to cook with only Trader Joe's products.  Visited Chicago History Museum.  Ate lots of Chocolate.  Experienced Real American Christmas, with gift-opening, stockings, midnight mass, Christmas dinner, Real Christmas Tree, etc.

27th-Present-Jan 3rd:  Alexis and Ben visit.  OMG have played SO MANY GAMES.  Power Grid.  Blokus.  Tigris and Euphrates.  Bohnanza.  Playing cards.  We played Prime Time Adventures!

We had a one shot that was a sitcom set at the Earth-Moon Lagrange Point refueling station in the near-future.  Grungy gas station and "hotel" of outer space.  There was Biff Gostautis, the short-order cook with a astrophysics *and* criminal background.  He and Bev, the maid, work for Lydia, the super-cheerful hotel manager with big hopes for her hotel.  The bitter and cynical Christian Turner "owns" the hotel and the refueling station.  Ewan A (Anarchist symbol) is the 22-year-old scam artist who works for "Mr. T" and runs the illegit trade on the station.  There's also Charles Smythe-Wight-Ford, who is a "proper astronaut" who visits and stirs things up.  He is Ewan's brother.   The episode was Pretty Awesome.  And I really enjoyed roleplaying, for once!

Tonight is a housewarming party that I have to drag Jono to.  Tomorrow is a day in SF and an evening in Oakland.  Then Ben/Alexis leaves and I'll start grading.
