New Lappy!
This is totally un-heralded, but my old lappy's disc drive decided to stop working, so I have gotten myself a new lappy! It is once again, refurbished from Apple. It's a 13.3" white MacBook with SuperDrive! (For $999). After some initial tweaks, it works just fine now. What was totally awesome is how easy it was to just transfer everything over. I used the Migration utility, borrowed a firewire from the roommate, and played DDR for an hour, and suddenly my old lappy is on my new lappy. All my files and settings and applications and EVERYTHING. Most Painless Transfer EVER. I didn't have to install any new programs!! I didn't have to re-tweak all my programs!
- After trying it out for a while, I decided I'm still anti-two-finger-scroll, because I'm a spatial thinker, so why use two fingers when you can use one on the margin? Similarly, I needed to have the upper right corner of my trackpad be "Middle click". So once again, SideTrack to the rescue! (Thank you Jeremy!)
- the shorter screen means that I have finally caved and moved my dock to the right. I thought that would be a hard thing for me, but so far it's not too bad. I usually have the same programs open, and really, I use alt-tab for navigating between my programs and quitting them, so I rarely even look at the dock. Interesting, though is that I had to change the order of my dock icons. When it's a horizontal dock, the most easy-access are those closest to the center of the dock. When vertical, it's the ones closest to the top.
- wait, it didn't come with an adapter? WTF?
I will be selling my old lappy on eBay once I clear all the files off, find all the install discs, and receive the new VGA adapter for my new lappy. Maybe I should sell my XO lappy, too, because I don't have inclination to fiddle with it.
Goal for today:
- grade AVID papers
- eat lunch
- go Chinese grocery shopping
- grade 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period papers
- eat dinner
- grade 4, 5, and 8th period papers
- write 8th grade final for tomorrow.

I really like two-finger scroll though. I don't know why, but it seems very intuitive to me. I like that it lets me scroll from side-to-side. Also, having a one-finger scroll bar on the side always messed me up, because I'd invariably accidentally scroll when I meant to move the cursor, or move the cursor when I meant to scroll.
...You're lappy didn't come with a power adaptor? That's really weird! Kino came with one... Did they make a mistake, or have they decided to be less customer-friendly now to people buying refurbished macs?
