- I keep wanting to do a comic about teaching. But it's still hard to not just convey bitterness/exhaustion. On the one hand, I may need more distance. On the other hand, it is sort of indescribable from a distance. At least, hard to translate/convey the elation, pride, frustration and doubt inherent in any teaching situation.

- For those who don't see me every week -- my knee is mostly healed, I've started Tuesday night salsa-dancing with my roommate, there are 5 more weeks left in school, the History STAR test is Friday, grades are due Friday, half my kids are failing, and I haven't graded in the last 2 days. My parents are also having real estate problems which might end with us selling the old house.

- Saturday night, I watched Forbidden Kingdom or whatever the JetLiJackieChan Movie was called in an attempt to have something to comment on in Kim's blog. My brother went with me to watch the fighting, and my dad tagged along because he wanted to have a Shared Outing. Awkwardness abounded. But far less than the acting and the plot on stage. (Maybe a case of culture-adoption? Or just a case of parody-played-too-serious?) Best part in movie: the 5 minutes where Jackie Chan and Jet Li talk to each other in Chinese. Awesome chemistry. And they were relaxed-yet-in-character! I'd love to see them in a proper movie.

- ACen is in ... fuck*, 2 weeks. a-hahahahaha. On the other hand, I'm looking forward to seeing the JAS folks, old and new!


* Self-censorship is crazy, man. Haven't said that word in about a month!

Hey, where are you guys going salsa dancing and how do you like the club/studio? I've been trying to find a good place to go that's not all the way up in SF, but haven't been having much luck. Besides, it's much more fun to go with people you know - any chance I could join you guys for a night out some time?

Tuesday night at Alberto's in Mountain View. I'm there for the beginner lesson (officially 7:30-8:30, but usually I get there at 8pm and stay until 9). My roommate is there for the intermediate, which starts 8:45-ish. It's $10 to get in for any length of time. ($6 if you ::cough:: have a student ID)

Oh, how do I like it... well, it's the only one I've been to. The lessons are mediocre, the people are eclectic but generally nice.

We got a room in the Hyatt. It's a selfish thing wherein I like hanging out at Con in PJ's, but I don't like walking across the street in them. It'll just be Cat and me, so, um...
a) feel free to chill in our room during the day, and stash any large props!!
b) we will probably spend crucial evening hours with you guys. And
c) if you guys have any overflow, we can probably fit another healthy 2-4 people.
