Yay! Lappy found!

Or rather, lappy magically reappeared on desk!

Also, I was about to buy a 2000 Toyota Corolla for $3400, but it was too sketchy. :/
- guy was in a big hurry to sell, but was at the same time willing to ship from New Orleans to California
- there was a middle-man company to "protect the buyer and seller", but the money had to be wired to ... someone in New Orleans, who's not the guy trying to sell
- I did an internet search, and this is the exact same scenerio: http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=36708

ETA: Thank you everyone for your comments while dealing with my Weekend of Trauma. :D

Yay!

Hooray for the return of the lappy! Perhaps it was lonely and went out looking for you, and had an adventure, and got lost, and then finally found its way back back to your desk for a touching reunion.

This is the first time I've checked LiveJournal in 36 hours, so I missed the Lappy drama. When I got up to the top of my friends list and saw this post, it made me happy to find out that the world had righted itself. :)

Yay return of Lappy!

Yay not buying sketchy cars! Um, I mean, yay for not buying totally sketchy scam-y cars, and hopefully you'll be able to find an awesome sketchy not-so-scam-y car.

Cars from New Orleans are bad news. I've heard a lot about Katrina cars that were badly flooded (such that mold irrevocably grows in places it can't be removed from, metal rusts on the insides of doors, etc.) and then repaired to look OK and resold. Good thing you steered clear.

Also, yay for the return of the laptop. Sorry you had such a rough weekend.
