Saturday night
Odd sort of Saturday night, this.
Usually I leave my apartment at 6pm to drive home to dinner with parents. Tonight, it was raining. After I got over to the left lane of the freeway, I hit a puddle and skidded. The car turned about 210 degrees while spinning across the freeway, the rear left corner hit the right concrete barrier, and I found myself backing along the right shoulder, so I stopped. Not hurt, the back of the car is ick, but I can drive short distances. I called the police, who sent someone to come stop the traffic and turn the car around. Then he got a tow truck which pulled me back to my apartment. There's a car fix-up place 3 minutes drive away, so I'll go there when they're open. In the mean time: public transit to Chinese School tomorrow and to school next week.
Um, lessee, first (and hopefully only) car crash of seriousness. I was dreadfully lucky, in that I'm not hurt, and my car is almost functional. During the part where I was swinging across the highway, I just thought, "hey, I'm crashing. Well, that's it." I guess I don't have any regrets if my life were to suddenly end in a car crash, which is a comforting thought.
So now I'm washing laundry at home instead of at parents' super-fast washing machine, and watching Dr. Who. And in a bit I will do some more grading.
