had another pleasant friday evening with the anime peeps. Tonight was screener night, so Andrew brought lots of random anime. We watched 1 episode from 5 series:
- Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto: near-historic setting of Bakumatsu with a fantastic element? Pre-nationalization ghetto kabuki troupe that are also kickass fighters? I'm *so* there.
- Romeo x Juliet: In Neo Verona where we take our scene... familiar themes of secret identities, family secrets, a detached ruling class, etc etc. But Juliet is totally hot and will totally be in a doseiai relationship with Romeo. Cute fluff!
- Chinese cooking master boy: apparently Andrew's copy is a cantonese dub with English sub. I think a good thing to watch at future gatherings *while* cooking/wandering in and out of the kitchen.
- Nodame Cantabile: in an art style very similar to Honey and Clover, but stars an arrogant prick and a sloppy airhead... playing lots of piano. Cute.
- Haruhi Suzumiya: interesting. Definitely understanding it more now that I've watched an episode. I can see how it plays out.
Conclusions:
- 5 episodes seems like a goodly amount. 2-3 series of 2-3 episodes each, I think
- should have some weeks where we don't watch anime and do other stuff. :)
Most exciting is the work we did for our alumni skit. Once Jeremy sends me the pictures (that he took with his iPhone), I'll tweak them a bit and put them up somewhere. :DD
