Well.... I managed to twist my ankle while skipping. Actually, I twist my ankle all the time. The problem was that this time I landed on it. With some velocity, which means that it's kinda swollen and it can't take weight unless it's at a very specific angle. Yay for sports tape and hobbling!
In other news, my futon came today and I put it together! I also bought hammer and nails, which means there's a calendar up in my room. I actually got it to use it as a primitive drill to drill holes so that I can screw in the towel dispenser, though. So now we also have more counter space. I'm really enjoying the low-key cooking for myself thing. I feel like I'm eating food closer to the amount that is healthy for me, instead of feeling over-full every time.
School-wise, I'm finding it really hard to concentrate on preparing for class while at home, so I think I will try to wake up early tomorrow and see if I can do some work in my classroom. it's 5 days until the first day of school, and my classroom is (almost) done! Which means I can take a tally of Things I Need to Buy, and start moving in, etc. Exciting! (The whole ankle thing is kinda a bummer just as I need to Lug Stuff Up Stairs, but I'll manage.)
Yesterday, I decided to turn a pork-based mushroom stuffing into a stir-fry, and then decided last-minute to turn it into fried rice. Then I sat in my room and watched the Chinese Cooking Master anime -- the episode where they make Fried Rice. While I was eating my fried rice. (Yes, it was awesome). Chinese Cooking Master is seriously the proto-Yakitate. Episode 2: Mapo Tofu. But it's the *magical* mapo tofu with *6*, not 5, flavors! Too bad the cooking bits go by too quickly. I think it's cause they're on a one-episode pacing thus far, whereas Yakitate is always 2 episodes, which gives time for yeast to rise and lots of bystander angst. ("OMG! He's doing crazy stuff! There's no way he can win!!" "No, he still has hope, because I see something that you don't see, (but I won't tell you that for the next 20 minutes while the exposition switches to the opponent)")
Ah, bystander angst, as integral to shounen competition anime as the transformation sequence is to the mahou shoujo...
The UCJAS-alumni list has also started murmuring about our alumni skit, which also makes me happy. :D
