Is it bad that I want to write an academic paper right now?

With proper citations and everything?

I think what I have come up against is a literacy issue. I can write history papers. I can't write reflections worth a damn. There are all these ideas in my head that want to come out but can't.

You know how teacher clothes aren't exactly casual, but aren't full suit-tie, either? That's how I feel about the writing that I'm doing.

I'm using other parts of my brain. But not well. And not really enjoying it. (But is it because I'm not using it well, or is it because I like academia more?)

Really, I just want some time to Think. Rigorously.

Anyway, today was a loong day. Got up at 7, headed out at 8, got to San Fran at 9, found parking by 9:30, and at 10 was told that my brother's visa application photo is not kosher. Got to school at 11:10-- just in time to start teaching.

Since I have a ton of stuff due tomorrow, I don't think I'm going to be driving up to San Fran again... until next Tuesday, perhaps.

I *was* able to take care of some school business this afternoon. And then I got tired and came home.

It's funny that my special needs student has memory/attention issues, and so do I.
