Wait! That can't be a Chinese! Where's the pigtail?
It's funny how people think I'm smart and hard-working, when actually I'm the exact opposite. Where do they get these ideas? Is it because of my glasses, my asian-ness, and my lack of life? On the other hand there's people who *are* smart and hard-working, but everyone thinks they're a stupid jock or something, just because they look like that. But what I really want to put for my Senior write-up is something like, "Leave me alone! I'm not smart! I can't possibly care less about school work!" But then my parents will end up killing me. Which is why I can't put anything about anime, either. Hmm... how about "check my LJ to find out how shallow/conceited I am!" Heehee. I'll end up putting something mediocre, like "Paly was great, thank you all my friends. Don't be the Science Olympiad Prez, ever. Love you, mom and dad."
Americans seem to think that Chinese shuffled around China in pigtails for 5000 years. Is that a sort of icon of the Chinese? Those kindergarten picture books about the Seven Chinese Brothers who built the Great Wall (or something...) had men with pigtails. I caught the first 5 minutes of that icky WB cartoon Return of the Mummy where they had travelled to the reign of Kublai Khan, and everyone was running around in pigtails. Sagwa has the foolish magistrate (who probably bought his title since he can't write a word and you have to pass the Palace exams to even qualify for office) in pigtails. Hmm.... Mulan doesn't have pigtails. Their clothing is actually historically accurate. Well, at least not a motley from different dynasties like Fushigi Yuugi. (Except for the matchmaker scene). Yay Mulan.

Anyway, people are stupid. That's generally my motto. It holds for most situations too.
