UChi-Con was pretty darn awesome. Things ran pretty smoothly, and I really got to enjoy the Con because Cat was running things. I think one of the aspects I liked most about the con was that *I wanted to go to everything.* Unlike at ACen or whatever, all of the panels looked interesting, and the speakers were cool, and since artists alley is smaller, it's easier to get to know the artists. All in all lots of fun. Afterwards, we had a dinner thing with some of the artists. :D
I'm quite tired from all the Con excitement, but I'm determined to stay up until midnight california time to wish my parents a happy new year.
It's been really great, being back in Chicago, back at the U of C, and being back among friends. Con was also a great time to catch up with people whom I haven't seen in a while. And during dinner I realized that one of the things I love about the people here is everyone's ability to code-switch between many geekdoms, as the dinner conversation went from physics to anime to fantasy novels to gaming to comics to computer programming. The guy who was sitting next to me was like "oh great, from swahili to greek." Also the ability to sound academicky when tapped. Like during our academicky fireside chat thing today. :D
I find that I walk quicker here and have more energy. Is it because of the cold, or because I am happy and not thinking about STEP stuff?
so tomorrow morning and afternoon will be spent celebrating Chinese New Year with Kim. Afterwards... who knows? Everyone's probably busy Monday, so maybe I'll wander around downtown, and maybe take a nap in the Reg. :D
