Don't think we're in Kansas anymore....
esteemed readers of this LJ, over the course of the past 6 years you have heard a lot of whining from me.
I think it's because I always expect my life to be Totally Awesome, and that I expect someone to rescue me from Responsible Things that I Dislike.
But really, life isn't supposed to be Totally Awesome. So I should just focus on the good stuff that happened, and not just the crummy stuff like getting sick while waiting in the social security office for 1.5 hours in order to get a replacement card and having to spend 2 hours making Chinese medicine that parents said they'd do as a condition of me drinking the damn thing twice a day.
So, good stuff that happened today:
- My tablet worked really well when taking notes in class! I was totally able to move things around and take Quality (but searchable) hand-written notes!
- Figure drawing class was totally awesome. Sure, the model was non-creative, and the teacher kept underestimating me and messing me up, but we did, like, 50 30-second gestures and 20 minute gestures, and the standard 5-2s and 2-5s. I love gesture drawing, so it was really lots of fun. Plus I was brilliant and switched to the back of the paper early enough to still have about 20 sheets of pristine newsprint.
- I watched "Shark" tonight while boiling the Chinese Medicine. It's a good show! I think I like it more than House because the main character, while being just as ruthless, egotistical, and manipulative (and therefore fun-to-watch), is much more likeable. Plus it's a Detective Show pretending to be a Lawyer Show, which seems more natural than a Detective Show pretending to be a Doctor Show. (Evidence can come in all forms. But with House, you wonder just how many times one can MRI and trach a guy). Plus, he has a full-scale court room in his basement, and that's just awesome.
- my cousin has been so patient with all of our family craziness. She is one cool cat. (And she's so pretty!)
- I got to wake up late today! Like, 8:30!
