So yeah, this has been very much a MEH week. My bike got stolen. Which means I can now NEVER make the 12:45 train back to campus. Seeing Student Thinking project done. C&I class has grown increasingly frustrating with its inability to show the other side. Every single reading, though written by different authors, says pretty much the same thing: "textbooks are bad! you must teach students to question!" It's like, okay, I get your point. But how about showing us the other side a little bit, eh? What happened to "teaching by questioning?"
Thursday night (after turning in my Seeing Student Thinking), I went to a STEP karaoke gathering at a karaoke bar. We've got some great singers in STEP, and I realized three things. 1) Thank heavens for Joanne + Kim giving me some limited exposure to booze. 2) The people here are so NORMAL. Like, they socialize normally and I... don't really know/remember how to do that. 3) I'm a poor conversationalist. Especially having drunk something. Either that or I can't elicit any interesting convo.
2 lesson plans this weekend. One about the push/pull factors of Jewish immigration, one about the Self Strengthening movement. Oh, also gotta read a book. Guess am not going anywhere.
