In Shanghai!
Got in last night. Took a walk outside today. My street has the usual gamut of grocers, convenience stores, misc item stores, hair salons, hole-in-the-wall clothing stores, and lots of food claiming to be from Sichuan! Inner Mongolia! The Tastiest Buns in Shanghai! and so forth. The grocer was blasting C-pop very loudly, and trying to convince me that I can't find better prices anywhere else. The sketch of dollar stores with the spunkiness of c-pop, and underneath it all, just some people desperately trying to make a living. Ah, how I love China.
Our apartment is quite nice. Until my brother comes, I have a whole room to myself, and not only that, a giant full-sized (?) bed! OMG. We all know this hasn't been true for the last ... 13 years of my life and won't be true in the next few. So life is sweet. :D
They've got this nifty metropolitan cell phone that only works in Shanghai, but it can call anywhere nationally. It came with a base phone thingie that you can use with your land line. Then, within 50 meters of your land line base phone, it also functions as a cordless phone that answers to the land line. It's like totally crazy, and totally free (ish).
This morning I had the aforementioned meat buns for breakfast. Then uncle made yummy fish, and wintermelon/bamboo soup for lunch. <3
Tomorrow will hopefully be spent with Alexis if we can get our act together.

I'm trying to get my act together. Let's see how it goes.
