watched Boondock Saints for the second time today. Well, more like did some reading while having movie run in background, but one thing that I came to realize was that: The Boondock Saints was a comic book movie without a comic book. It had tasty visuals, charismatic main characters, well-choreographed action sequences, questionable plot, mobster bad guy and a heavy-handed portrayal of vigilante justice. But what makes it different is that it's designed as a movie. It's not tied to comic book visuals, both in terms of framing of shots, but also costume and character design. So there's lots of pretty tracking shots of the twins that look really cool and very active, but probably wouldn't have worked in comic book form. Or for example, the time overlay section in the Il Duce gunfight. Costumes are simpler and hotter, too. No color restrictions and not as much concern for contrast.
