I'm thinking of going somewhere by train over spring break. I've always liked trains, especially China ones, but the Europe ones are nice, too. I'd totally dig a looong, several-day train ride through pretty scenery. I'll sip tea, work on various things, nap, and enjoy the train. Then I'd get off and hang around a city for a few days, and then head back, perhaps by a different route. And this would totally be the last time in a while that I'd have a week off to go wherever. Maybe I should go East. Or perhaps Northwest.

Sheeze, everyone's going abroad these days. When I went to Japan last summer I expected everyone to be like "Oooh, you went to Japan! Can I get your autograph? Can I touch you? Are you looking for a girlfriend?" But instead everyone's all like "Japan, huh? Yeah, I went to Addis Ababa for study abroad when I was in ninth grade. It was fun."

這個冬天我算見識到中國的公車和火車了。千萬不要去坐。嗯,在美國坐就好了.好髒的!才不像漫畫裡那樣浪漫呢.

hmm recent train experiences have been muchly daydreaming/looking for yumming restaraunts which eventually turns into napping. But alas commuter trains are less glamorous than traditional trains. I don't think I've ever been on a "real" train.

The Empire Builder from Chicago to Portland is a very relaxed ride, and affordable, although you're asleep for all the good scenery. The Empire Builder from Portland to Chicago, on the other hand, has excellent scenery. So if you're into delayed gratification, I could certainly offer you a place to stay.

...that didn't come out quite right, but nevertheless.
