okay,
so using Terminal, I accessed my Desktop directory and was able to delete all the stuff copied over from Downloads... except for the problem child, Kino. I also moved all my other Desktop stuff into a folder called Desktop-safe-stuff.
So why can't I remove Kino?
When I type file *, Kino shows up as:
Problem here is that I'd type: file *
It'd show up as: [KAA]_Kinos_Travels.1-13.DVD(complete): directory
When I type ls
It'd show up as [KAA]_Kino??s_Travels.1-13.DVD(complete)
But when I try to remove it: rm -r [KAA]_Kino??s_Travels.1-13.DVD\(complete\), I get a "no such file or directory" so it's like, there, but not there?
So I'm wondering if I can move all the important desktop stuff to a "Desktop2" folder, delete the Desktop folder, and then rename Desktop2 to Desktop?
So I've created the Desktop2 folder and moved my Desktop-safe-stuff directory over. But there's all this other stuff in the Desktop, which appear to be a duplicate of whatever's in the root directory.
Applications: directory
Network: directory
usr: directory
Attempting to copy it to Desktop2 seems moot. (I mostly get "permission denied" for Network and "no such file or directory" for usr)
Does this mean that:
- deleting and renaming the Desktop is foolish b/c it's got so much at stake,
OR
- these things replace themselves when I do the renaming and restarting?
Hmm... it seems as if if I do want to delete Desktop (not that I've seriously tried), it'll start asking me if I want to over-ride the read-only lock on the applications.
Maybe I need to stop mucking around and get someone to fix it or something.

This is because of the typing error mentioned earlier. You should really get someone to look at it.

rm -r [KAA]*
would help?

When I do that, it asks if I want to delete various applications, so maybe the [KAA] doesn't exist, and merely links to the redundant Applications folder?
Sushu-Xias-Computer-2:~/Desktop sushuxia$ cd [KAA]*
Sushu-Xias-Computer-2:~/Desktop/Applications sushuxia$
