When I left Chicago it was 40+ degrees. When I got back, it was sub-30 with 20mph winds, making it in effect, around 10 degrees. Talk about a precipitous drop! Everyone's complaining, but in a few days we will all have settled in to our winter habits. For me, that involves extra pants and sweaters. Also finding a functional scarf. It's quite cute, seeing everyone break out their heavy duty scarves and parkas and digging in for the winter, trading anecdotes, etc etc. I cheer myself in the thought that we will all be happy about this temperature by the time winter is over. Spring here is ecstatic.

My trip home went all right. I'm currently functioning on not-so-much sleep, but I did manage to sleep horizontally both at home and in Chicago for about an hour or so, so that was nice. :D

Who's complaining? I walked outside this morning, felt the blast of cold wind, saw the teensy snowflakes, and very nearly did a jig of joy. FINALLY, some appropriate weather for November. Now I just need about a foot of snow in time for my birthday. Get to it, weather gods.

Hee, you're a rare one. But I think in general people complain cheerfully, for the sake of complaining. Y'know, whereas before it's "omgwtf it's been so warm, what happened to winter?" now it's like "omgwtf it's so frickkin cold and the Wind omg I need pants". But not like "GAH DIE HATE"

Mmm hmm. I think I'll be pulling out my parka tomorrow; I like cool weather, but this is a little past cool for me. Welcome home!

You know what's funny... I have two friends who live in Chicago at the moment, and you both posted in LJ about the temperature and snow within minutes of each other.

Weather is always a conversation piece. Especially big things like First Snow!!

You're lucky. The place you're at has snow.
