Updatey-ness
Lo, it is nearly a week since my last update. From this we can surmise a few things:
- Sushu's life does not bring her near a computer for an extended period of time
True. Last week 2 of my 3 roommates were computer-challenged. One was wiping her entire harddrive and the other cannot get onto the local intarweb network, so I designated my lappy a "public access" comp and left it in the living room as much as possible. Since then their computers have been unborkened, so more lappy for me!
- Sushu has not been spending enough time at the library where she procrastinates on actual library work by checking email and updating LJ
Not other things, per se, but last week (and a little of the week before), I was going through my mid-quarter slump, where I didn't want to do anything at all. Not even procrastinate. (For example, I re-read 1602, watched some West Wing season 4, slept, etc etc) But I'm feeling more energized this week! This is a week where things may get done!
- Sushu has other things on her mind
It wasn't *all* a slump... there are things that are coming up that I *did* do work for this past week...
* Nov. 5 is the anime club garden party. Now's the time to see the effectiveness of delegation of labor.
* I've been pulled into Calligraphy Club again, which is... the 4th club I'm an officer for
* on Friday I cooked for a lot of people. 10, to be specific. It was fun. And then there was a party with Loud Brain-stopping Music, which was not as fun. (I don't object to talking and chillin' with people I don't really know, but I object to having to do so over loud music) So
philena and I hid in her room and watched Cider House Rules, which was fun. (Tobey Maguire = yay. Michael Caine = too many old people roles)
* the STEP application is looking harder every day.
* I really need to have a BA paper topic, dammit!
* Oh! After, like, 6 weeks, I finally finished a panel for CGU while watching West Wing. (grah. Need to ink more...Need to look at the script again...) But people should check out the Halloween pinup I did for the Stiff. I <3 it because I'm a dork. It has zombies and the Sibi Jataka in it! 尸毗王本生 for you Chinese-folk, yes, all 2 of you. But yes, Buddhism has about as many messed up stories as the Bible. mmm... thigh-flesh!
Oh! I watched a cool Korean war movie last night at Doc. It's about these two brothers and it's a really well-done tear-jerker and it's got lots of people punching each other in it, which is always +2 charisma in my book. And it's got a swarm of Chinese people charging up Paektu-san, which was v. exciting and dreadful at the same time, because I know what's gonna happen and it makes me sad. It's all so senseless and manipulative, this war thing. I've liked 3 of the 4 Korean movies I've seen so far, which is a high percentage! (Spring Summer Fall Winter.. .and Spring, YMCA Baseball, and this one) People should give me recommendations! (Which reminds me, need to put Zulu on Netflix. Joanne assures me that it's Young(ish) Michael Caine.) Speaking of Joanne, also watched National Treasure, which was quite an enjoyable romp.
With my grade on the line, I'm getting better about getting to my 8:30 class on time! Let us all pray for my continued punctuality!

In about what grade can you join an anime/manga club? I MUST JOIN!
And, what clubs are there in high school, usually?
What cna you cook? Who's philena and what the hell is cider house rules?
What's a BA paper?
Do you have a job?
How's life?
Is netflix good?
Some religions do have scary stories.
National Treasure is a good movie.
Is calligraphy club fun?
Where did you learn how to cook?
End of rant. *bows*

Generally high schools will have an anime club. If there are any colleges nearby, you can also investigate the meeting time of their anime club. They are generally open to community members such as you.
> And, what clubs are there in high school, usually?
I don't rightly recall, but it generally comes down to:
"cultural" (German club, French club),
"academic" (Math Club, Chess Club),
"community service" (Key Club, Best Buddies, Environmental Club), and
"slackers" (Anime Club and other clubs that involve watching movies or hanging out during lunch)
> What cna you cook?
I can make various Chinese food and some western food. I'm good with dumplings and bad with baking.
> Who's philena and what the hell is cider house rules?
> What's a BA paper?
It is the final paper that I must write to graduate. For history, it is an article-length essay (35-50 pages) where I try to say something new and cool about something in history.
> Do you have a job?
No
> How's life?
Decent
> Is netflix good?
Yes.
> Some religions do have scary stories.
> National Treasure is a good movie.
Indeed.
> Is calligraphy club fun?
Somewhat.
> Where did you learn how to cook?
From observing the parentals. And then remembering later when I have a cleaver in hand.
