自転車?
I'm pondering getting a faster mode of transportation. Apparently it takes 3 minutes to bike to campus. <3 (vs. 15-20 min walk) More sleep! Less running!
Getting a bike would be a $70-80 affair, since I'd either be getting something from HydeParkBikes.com or getting it delivered from Walmart or something. The good thing about it is that I <3 bikes, the bad thing is that I probably won't use it in the winter (too cold and scary!) and it would get stolen very easily.
Another possibility would be a scooter, which would either be a $40 affair, or I can steal my brother's when I next go home. :X The good thing about scooters is that it's easily compactable, and therefore easy storage in reg locker or elsewhere. The bad thing is that I don't know how to ride it, and would it be that much faster than walking?

2. A scooter is easy(er) to ride than a bike, though you sacrifice some speed. And yes, it is faster than walking. Though if the roads are rough, the vibration of the handlebars will be horrible.

a) it's not THAT likely to be stolen, if you have a lock. I once attached my bike to a lamppost in front of eckhart overnight.. and the temp drop messed up the lock and I couldn't unlock it. It stayed there until May, when I finally gave up on it, went to the police and had them saw my lock off. If I had the same problem again, though, I'd go to the Physics lab, get some liquid nitrogen and a hammer. In any case, this is an "easy release" seat, front wheel AND back wheel. It was still together, I just had to replace the rusty chain.
b) it's not so scary in the winter. the roads usually don't have snow unless it's in the process of snowing, and even then, going moderately slowly (like 2x-3x walking speed) is perfectly safe.
i've thought about having my bike shipped back from new york for this year... but for the first four weeks of school, i seem to have done ok walking (even walking home every morning at 8 am from kimbark is ok)
