Talking with my mom always makes me happy. It's like, yes! you're allowed to want things and make your own life! :D. Today's topic: how academia isn't for everyone, and if I don't enjoy writing papers, what *do* I like? Writing and making presentations and stuff, apparently.

Also, cool = ironing and making the little wrinkles go away!
cooler = a wall ironing board that's like, uber-hidden

Aaand, today was Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋 for the l33ter of thou). So we gathered with our typical group of family friends and ate lots of food. I made meat moon cakes! Fooding = ultimate bonding. Making, savoring, critiquing... And this is the first 中秋 I've spent at home since starting school at UChicago, so that was pretty cool. (中秋 is like Thanksgiving. It's all about gathering about lots of food with lots of family and friends and making merry. Except instead of a turkey, we get the moon.) But what's missing was my dear Chi-town folks. Remind me to bring the mooncake recipe to Chicago, so that we can have more food and merriment in honor of the moon. :D

Technically, it's not the link that's risque, but rather the comics. And, um, this may be really naive of me, but are you sure they're from the 60s? They seem awfully modern in content -- women using vibrators? Lesbians as a turn-on? Using drugs to lower resistance? "Getting my rocks off?" "Hot pants?" Even the grammatical errors look like something you'd see on a poorly edited LiveJournal.

::sigh:: I'm probably just being silly to think that any of this is new.

But, yes, I'm not at all surprised at the age of this, especially considering the shunga that was around in 18th and 19th century Japan. Or the 20's porn that Doc screened 2 years ago... Porn has more or less been the same. Except maybe the golden showers thing. >_<
